Executive Director
Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR) is seeking an Executive Director due to an upcoming retirement. The Executive Director will be responsible for the day-to-day working of the organization and holding forth its vision and values while making decisions for the good of the program including selection and management of staff. The Executive Director will also serve as the spokesperson for the organization and will actively promote the program within and around the Knoxville community and the 9 counties the organization serves.

Part time CTRI instructor
STAR is in search of the right candidate to join our team as a Part-Time Instructor. The instructor must be certified through PATH Intl. as a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. The candidate must have strong horsemanship, instructional, and communication skills to teach mounted and unmounted Equine Assisted Services a minimum of 3 hours a week but no more then 20 hours a week.

CTRI mentorship program
Are you interested in becoming a PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI)?
The PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) processes were developed for professionals who want to work within the equine-assisted services (EAS) fields. This may include mounted or unmounted work ethically partnering individuals with an equine to obtain therapeutic outcomes. PATH International CTRIs have met established criteria and standards of practice in the field. They must demonstrate a solid knowledge of disabilities, health related conditions, horse management and equestrian skills expertise and instruction, and human-animal interactions necessary for their role within this profession.
STAR will mentor you to prepare you for the PATH International certification exam. This is a six month to two-year process based on where you are evaluated at and the amount of time you have to dedicate to the program. The requirements for becoming a CTRI can be found on the PATH International website.

Internship opportunities
Typically, intern candidates are enrolled in a degree program at a college or university and the internship is designed to fulfill coursework requirements. Because of the professionalism and diversity of our staff and services, we are able to meet the needs of students with a wide range of interests.
