Lynn Klimas Petr
is STAR's founder and full-time Executive Director/Program
Coordinator. She holds a BS degree in Special Education, and a MS
in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Tennessee. She is an Advanced Level PATH Intl. Instructor and mentor and an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. Lynn is also a PATH Intl. Lead On-Site Visitor for the National Accreditation
Program, Faculty for the Center Accreditation Training and is the Chair of the PATH Intl. Education Oversight Committee.
is STAR’s Equine Assistant Manager. She holds an Associates degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences from Pellissippi State University. She has always been involved in the equine world and currently owns two horses and one pony. Stephanie is a certified Chris Irwin Trainer with a silver level standing in both groundwork and riding.
is STAR's Development Director. She holds a BS degree from Wichita State University in Integrated Marketing Communications (Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising) and has worked within the fundraising and development field for 15+ years.
John is STAR’s Facility Manager. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS in Human Ecology with an emphasis in Child and Family Studies. John also has 10+ years experience working on his family farm.
Cathy is STAR's Specialty Programs Coordinator and a registered Level PATH Intl. Instructor. She pursued a BS in Business Management from Fairfield University. A former C2 level Pony Clubber, Cathy has 15+ years experience riding and working with horses.
is STAR'S Equine Manager. She graduated from the University
of Tennessee with majors in Child and Family Studies and Psychology.
She owns a Thoroughbred and has been riding and working with horses for 15+ years. She is also a certified Chris Irwin Trainer with a bronze level standing in groundwork.
has been STAR's Volunteer Coordinator since 2008. She is passionate about working for an organization that partners horses with the special needs community. She also has an administrative background with an emphasis in Personnel Management.
Laura is STAR’s Program Assistant as well as a PATH Intl. registered instructor. She graduated with a BS in Management and Business from Skidmore College and also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Sacred Heart University. Laura is originally from CT and comes to us with over 15 years experience riding and working with horses.
Kristen is STAR's Director of Administration. She is an Advanced Level PATH Intl. Instructor and mentor. She has a BS in Marketing and a MBA degree from Tennessee Technological University. Kristen has been working in nonprofit administration for 15+ years. She is also a Lead Site Visitor for the PATH Intl. National Accreditation program and serves on the Path Intl. Accreditation Subcommittee and Standards Task Force.
Robin teaches Heroes & Horses and is
a PATH Intl. Registered Level Instructor. She has been involved with STAR since 1989, is a parent of a rider and assists with various special
events. Robin is also the Area Director for Special Olympics in Loudon County.
Marilyn is a Registered Level PATH Intl. Instructor. She is also
a Certified Yoga Instructor and retired from General Motors Corporation.
She teaches in STAR's Therapeutic Riding program and serves as STAR's Horse Camp Director.
Sara is a Registered Level PATH Intl. instructor and an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. She specializes in teaching Changing Strides. Her experience includes at-risk youth programs, Hippotherapy, equine assisted learning with school programs, curriculum development and presenting at workshops. She is certified in therapeutic foster care with the state of Tennessee, a member of the East Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth Council and a Knoxville 4-H Leader.
Jenn is a Registered Level PATH Intl. Instructor. She holds a BA in Sign Language Interpreting and a minor in math. She is a nationally certified sign language interpreter and currently works as a therapy assistant at Hosenfeld Chiropractic/Apple Healthcare.
is a Registered Level PATH Intl. Instructor. She
has a degree in Recreation Administration with a minor in child development
from California State University at Chico. She is a certified CHA
instructor and owner/operator of Shadow Mountain, a horse camp for
Jan holds a
BS degree in Animal Science and has shown horses on the "A" circuit
for many years. She holds a PATH Intl. Advanced Level Instructor certification
and is the owner/operator
of Hunter Hollow Farm, a private boarding/lesson stable. Jan was also the Hunt Seat Coach of the University of Tennessee's Intercollegiate team from 1999-2008.
is a Registered Level PATH Intl. Instructor. She currently works at Penrose Farm for Maryville College. She lives in Maryville with her son and daughter. Randi also holds a BS in Organizational Management from Tusculum College.
